Let’s do it better! aims to improve the quality of teaching in order to strengthen integration processes in society and the labor market among learners. These tasks, although different in every organisation, contribute to eliminate the problem of social exclusion. Through a multilateral exchange of experience, we plan to improve the quality of our services for students as representative part of various social groups. The project aims to propose and promote popular not-formal education as a tool for target group’s empowerment in order to eliminate social exclusion.
Our goal is to learn from each other and share best practices, working in partners’ own country and during international meetings. Meetings in various participating countries will allow us to confront on a European level on informal learning and to learn mutually which could be the best practices related to adult training in vulnerable social groups and coming from the margins of society.
We want to build a “good advice” guide about methods and techniques based on people education and empowerment to train vulnerable social groups in marginal social contexts. We will also be able to watch similar organizations in action and learn how they deal with activities very similar to ours, both meeting with project’s partners and other organizations not involved in the project in partner countries. That is definitely an added value to this project. We will share knowledge improving our activities and fostering growth of new services for socially excluded people.
Three international seminars will take place during project life. European Partners and local society will have the opportunity to gather up and share good practices in the context of not-formal education.
First meeting was held in Genova (Italy) in October 2011, managed by the project coordinator LA COMUNITÀ.

“Learning the Greek language and Greek culture through the eyes of immigrants/Greek as a foreign language A2-B1 level”
Workshop Dates: 17/06/13 -26/06/13
Host organisation: Vardakeios School of Hermoupolis
Workshop language:Greek, English
Expected number of participants: 15
Target group: Adults who speak Greek at A2 or B1 level and would like to attend a language course accompanied by cultural activities. It is also intended for immigrants and staff of organisations working with immigrants and for those who would like to participate in a workshop that can be seen as “ good practice”.
Main activities/ programme of the Workshop:
The workshop aims to acquaint participants with the Greek language and Greek culture through an intercultural way. The key factor of the workshop is the students (immigrants) of the host organisation, which accompany the language lessons with activities such as cooking, storytelling, traditional dance, Greek songs, trekking, visits to museums and archaeological sites, and local crafts. Through these activities participants will learn the Greek language and Greek culture, but will also have the opportunity to contribute to building the European dimension and becoming carriers of the culture of their country. And all this will take place on an island which back in the 19th century was a crossroad of cultures with the capital of Ermoupolis being the city that first revealed the bourgeoisie of the country. In this place where Catholics and Orthodox christians coexist harmoniously until now, the idea of multiculturalism has become a way of life. Vardakeios School, the host organisation, reflects this idea because its adult students come from all over the world.
The participants will gain a basic knowledge of the Greek language, will be acquainted with Greek culture through their contact with the culture of a Cycladic island, will interact with countries and languages to build a European dimension. They will also have the opportunity to participate in “good practice” related to immigrants.
Financies: The workshop is financed by Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Agency of the European Commission
