eMATES

The eMATES project | Enhancing access of adults with a migrant background to e-government through foreign language education by training foreign language teachers is an initiative of the Erasmus+ program that aims to bridge the digital divide for adult migrants.

To achieve the intended objectives, the project will develop a practical training program that will allow teachers to master TTRPG sessions, enhancing their ability to cultivate social and emotional competences. Under the guidance of the project partners, teachers and students will have the opportunity to participate in TTRPG activities, testing their effectiveness and leveraging positive outcomes, such as promoting a supportive school environment and providing resources to address emotional challenges.

By integrating language training with digital literacy, we aim to empower migrants to navigate e-government services with confidence and independence. In today’s digital world, access to online public services – such as healthcare, job applications and administrative procedures – is essential. However, many migrants face language barriers and limited digital skills, making it difficult for them to fully participate in their host countries.

eMATES addresses this challenge by equipping foreign language educators (L2 teachers) with the tools to teach not only language but also digital autonomy. eMATES brings together a strong international collaboration from Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece and Poland. Through a combination of research, curriculum development, educational materials and digital learning tools, we provide L2 teachers with the knowledge and resources to have a real impact on the lives of their students.
